ISA-West 2021 Conference - Preliminary Program Announced

We are pleased to announce the preliminary program for the ISA-West 2021 Annual Meeting. This year the conference will have two components: online and in-person. The online panels will take place on Thursday, September 23, 2021. The in-person panels will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 24 and 25, 2021 at the Westin Pasadena in California, CA. By registering for the conference, you are eligible to attend any and all online and in-person events. You can view the preliminary program at https://www.isanet.org/Conferences/West2021/Program.

By including both online and in-person components we aimed to provide maximum flexibility to the ISA-West members and colleagues at the time of the pandemic-related uncertainty. For all applications, when possible, we made efforts to accommodate attendance preferences indicated at the time of proposal submission as well as time zone differences for online panels.

This year ISA-West will also continue the tradition of having the Emerging Scholar Forum (ESF) and the mini-Pay It Forward (PIF) program. Congratulations to early-career scholars selected for the ESF program! For information about the mini-PIF program, please expect the call for participants later this month.

In addition to a compelling set of online and in-person panels, roundtables, and workshops, this year’s conference will include Presidential Address by ISA President Kristian Skrede Gleditsch online on Thursday, evening reception open for everyone for finally getting together and networking in-person on Friday, and a luncheon on Saturday with the presentation by the 2020 Ole R. Holsti Distinguished Scholar Award recipient, Cameron G. Thies.

Next steps! To guarantee your place on this year’s program:

Please login to your ISAnet.org account to confirm your participation and register for the conference. There are discounts for early registration. Membership is not required to participate in the conference. However, membership is required for anyone receiving travel grants or funding for the Emerging Scholars Forum as well as eligibility for any ISA-West awards.

Conference registration fees entitle you to full participation in the conference, including attending any and all online and in-person panels as well as Thursday’s Presidential address and Friday evening reception. The Saturday luncheon is open to all conference registrants for a minimal charge. You must pre-pay for the luncheon when you register for the conference using ISA online system — there will be no on-site sales for luncheon tickets.
