ISA-West seeks paper/poster proposals for four Emerging Scholar panels at this year's ISA-West meeting to be held September 26-27, 2014, in Pasadena, California. This opportunity is open to graduate students and those whose PhD has been conferred within the past two years. Preference will be given to those within the western US.
Pending funding from the ISA PD committee, we will be able to fund individual presenters for half a night in the conference hotel, and will facilitate the location of roommates to combine this funding for a full night or nights. To participate and receive funding, applicants must be ISA members and register for the ISA-West conference.
Successful applicants agree to write a paper for distribution one month prior to the conference, and to prepare a poster for display and a short introduction of their paper. These panels will be held the morning of September 26 at the beginning of the conference to facilitate networking with senior scholar discussants and other conference attendees.
The Emerging Scholar panels are a wonderful opportunity to receive extended feedback from a senior scholar in the field. The small size of the conference compared to the main ISA meeting allows for better networking opportunities throughout the conference. Please note that conference registration also includes a keynote speech and reception with ISA President Amitav Acharya and a luncheon speech with Ole Holsti.
To apply for participation in an Emerging Scholar panel, send an abstract of 150 words and a current CV to ISA-West President Amy Eckert at firstname.lastname@example.org. Proposals are due by August 1.
