Distinguished Scholar Panels

ISA Distinguished Scholar Panels

ISA Distinguished Scholar (DS) panels are important special programs held at the ISA Annual Convention. These prestigious programs are designed by ISA Section and Caucus academic leaders to recognize and celebrate the work of exceptional scholars in their respective fields.

ISA Distinguished Scholar panels are often coordination with Section/Caucus Distinguished Scholar Awards (see the full list of associated awards here) - but both panels and award programs may be held independently.

All Distinguished Scholar Awards must be submitted by Section/Caucus Chairs using the ISA online system by the June 1st deadline. All ISA Distinguished Scholar Panel submissions must be submitted by Section/Caucus Chairs using the ISA online system by the July 1st deadline.

  1. One Distinguished Scholar Panel is allowed per Caucus/Section per Annual Convention; and each submission counts against the group’s total panel allocation.
  2. Caucus/Section Chairs work directly with ISA Headquarters staff to reserve specific  rooms and time-blocks for the panel session.  ISA Headquarters staff strive to ensure the best possible placement for these important Distinguished Scholar panels—by scheduling them prior to the selection processes undertaken by the ISA Convention Program and Section Program Chairs.
  3. Full panel details (honoree, participants, title, abstract, etc.) and the specific schedule requests are due at submission. No placeholders for panels or participants can be accepted.
  4. ISA Distinguished Scholars Panels can ONLY be submitted by Section or Caucus Chairs (or their specified designees).
  5. ISA Members participating on a Distinguished Scholar panel are exempt for this session from ISA Annual Convention participation limits.
  6. Section or Caucus Chairs seeking to link the Distinguished Scholar panel with an award or another ISA event (i.e., business meeting, reception, other), must contact awards@isanet.org or events@isanet.org (respectively).
